The SWEETEST (straight guys supporting gay guys) thing I’ve seen… EVER!
Yesterday was the wedding of my friend Lisa who I’ve known for over 18 years.
At the reception I was sat at a table of people that I went to school with from kindergarten to 8th grade. I’ve only seen them here and there since, but we still have a weird sort of bond.
But being reunited with with people I haven’t seen in years always makes me nervous. A few people knew that I have come out, and I’m sure it spread through most of the crew, but you never know how people outside large cities will react.
I felt a bit easier when I realized another guy from our group of friends brought his boyfriend to the wedding. They too seemed to feel a bit uncomfortable, and weren’t being very affectionate towards each other even though you could see in their eyes that they wanted to be.
Then everything changed. They mentioned that they wanted to slow dance together, but felt uncomfortable. So two guys (twin brothers) who I’ve known forever, got up with them and slow danced together next to them so they wouldn’t feel uncomfortable.
It was the sweetest thing I’ve seen in a LONG time. I nearly teared up, and I don’t cry EVER!
